The Space Pirates (宇宙海賊, Uchū Kaizoku?) are an antagonistic faction that acts as one of the major villains in the Metroid series until Metroid Fusion. By the time of Metroid Dread, it is implied that the pirates are no more.
the space pirate doom
The Space Pirates stationed on Aether resembled the Zebesian breed, with the same lobster-like claw-weapons and rough, grey exoskeletons. The images accompanying the scan of the pirates indicates that their pincers are actually weapons as opposed to normal parts of their physiology.
Space Pirates have been shown to be able to cling to ceilings to ambush unwary prey (a tactic particularly common among the Shadow Pirates) and crawl through spaces where Samus Aran would need to use her Morph Ball. They also seem to move faster than the average human as well as being physically stronger. An example of this greater-than-human strength can be seen in Corruption where, during the attack on Norion, a single Pirate Militia is encountered swinging at a Federation Marine and knocking him down an energy shaft.
Space Pirates may have some form of honor code amongst themselves, such as when Samus successfully defends the Theronian Bomb so that it may be dropped on the shield defending the Elysian Leviathan, all the remaining Pirates committed suicide via leaping off the edges of the platform to their doom. This may imply that they realize that they have failed and that they are retaining their honor by ending their lives, or because either they would rather seek death than continue facing her in combat or die by their own hands than meet whatever punishment their superiors have in store for failure. Pirate Aerotroopers are also notorious for their suicidal dive-bombing attacks, which they all trigger when near death. The Logbook in Echoes states that they do this to prevent capture; "death before dishonor".
In Echoes, one pirate mentions in its log that the Federation Marines owe them a "fate-debt" for their attack on their supply ship. Whether or not this is a concept practiced by most Pirates, or if it is merely a cultural upbringing, is unknown.
"An enemy of Samus. They land on Tallon IV and use the energy they find there--called Phazon--for brutal experiments on the planet's life-forms. Samus makes for Tallon IV to destroy the experiment facilities. In Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, the pirates go to Aether to find Phazon. A war is being waged there, and a race of dark beasts, the Ing, make research difficult." GCN Metroid Prime GCN Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Brak is a fictional character and supervillain on the 1966 Hanna-Barbera animated series Space Ghost, portrayed as a catlike alien space pirate trying to conquer the galaxy. Brak appeared alongside his twin brother Sisto in such episodes as "The Lure" and "The Looters", and was also a member of the Council of Doom (an organization of Space Ghost villains which originally consisted of Zorak, Moltar, Metallus, Creature King, Black Widow, and himself). In the 1990s the Brak character re-appeared on Cartoon Network's animated talk show Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and then became the main character in its spin-off The Brak Show also on Cartoon Network. The last two incarnations of Brak's character changed from an evil genius supervillain into a childlike simpleton. It was confirmed in Cartoon Planet that Brak is a dunce because he suffered brain damage after being thrown into a swarm of Pirranamyte in the Space Ghost episode "The Lure".
Brak first appeared along with his brother Sisto as villains on the 1966 Hanna-Barbera cartoon Space Ghost. The two were portrayed as cat-like alien space pirates trying to conquer the galaxy. Brak and Sisto were the main adversaries in the episodes "The Lure" and "The Looters", and the duo were also featured during the six-part Council of Doom storyline (primarily in the episode "The Two Faces of Doom"). Brak was voiced by Keye Luke for all of his original Space Ghost appearances. In the episode "The Lure", Brak and Sisto had cat-like whiskers.
In response to a viewer's letter read on an episode of Cartoon Planet, Brak revealed that his current level of stupidity was the after-effect of being thrown into a space dust cloud by Space Ghost at the end of "The Lure". Cartoon Network's write-up for Brak explained: "This toothy, mask-wearing former pirate made his first TV appearance on Space Ghost. It was during this adventure that Brak was irradiated by Pirranamyte, releasing him from the burden of intelligence. Now armed only with his meager wits and the love of a peppy tune, Brak happily entertains fans and annoys his co-stars with equal aplomb. He will continue to do so as long as he receives a steady diet of pineapple and processed meats."[1]
The Hyperborean galaxy is full of unique races, worlds, factions, and lots of ancient mysteries. Playing with a team of space pirates, you will have a chance to encounter the craziest alien beings. Among them are stoned self-aware asteroids, incorporated mechanical insectoids, time-traveling ducks, and more.
In Solar Sails, you play as a team of space pirates in a galaxy ravaged by war, economic turmoil, and rum prohibition. To make a living, they smuggle rum, raid trade convoys and search for alien technologies to sell on the black market.
Carol Danvers is one of Marvel Comics' earliest heroes, having been introduced in 1968 as a human ally of the original Captain Marvel, the Kree hero Mar-Vell, before eventually gaining his powers through an explosion that merged their DNA. Danvers is the Avenger with perhaps the most experience in space, so she has had run-ins with the Starjammers several times over the last few decades, and was even a member of their team after becoming her alter-ego Binary in the '80s. The Starjammers were first introduced in 1977 before it was revealed that their leader Corsair is actually Christopher Summers, the father of the X-Men Cyclops and Havok, who they thought was dead. The crew of space pirates have gone on to feature as allies of the X-Men, and enemies of the Shi'ar Empire as well as the third Summers brother, the supervillain Vulcan.
Captain Marvel Annual #1 - written by Torunn Grønbekk (Wastelanders: Doom) with art by Carlos Gómez (America Chavez: Made in the USA, Sinister War) and a gorgeous cover by Lee Garbett and David Curiel - appears to partner Carol Danvers with the original Starjammers team. The pirate teams roster has switched often over the years, but has almost always included Corsair, Hepzibah, Raza, and Ch'od. This is the team that Captain Marvel must ally herself with, as seen in a preview shared by AIPT.
While the Starjammers have acted as heroes in major crises over the past several decades, at their core they are a group of space pirates primarily interested in their own self preservation and survival. The Starjammers team actually met in a prison camp, so being back together in a authoritarian prison world must be triggering for their whole group, especially Corsair who was forced into prison slavery after watching his wife and unborn child (seemingly) slaughtered right in front of him. The Starjammers most recent adventure saw them teaming up with the Krakoan team New Mutants in space, before the pirates pulled a pirate-move and betrayed the mutants, leaving them stranded in Shi'ar territory! The mutants obviously survived the situation, and didn't even seem to put off by the Starjammers betraying them, but the whole event surely emphasizes one major thing: The Starjammers' number one priority is themselves.
Disks of Doom Skeletor was designed by David Wolfram, who worked on figures like Laser Light Skeletor and Snake Face in the original MOTU line. The concept originated with an abandoned space pirate idea. In my interview with David, he explained:
The skull armor was something that came out of brainstorms of new MOTU segments. One one my proposals was mutant space pirates, with many of them wearing variants of skull armor. Once we started working on the new line, I adopted that for the Skeletors that I designed.
The ultimate evil lord of destruction! While hiding on the dark moon of Denebria, Skeletor discovers the secret entrance to the long forgotton space base, Skuldor. There in the heart of the ancient underground caverns he finds The Disks of Doom, psychotronic weapons so powerful that they could turn He-Man into a mindless slave!
Martin goes on a school trip to a museum where there is an exhibition of pirates, and he decides to see where are the things of an old pirate that was told to have supernatural powers. Taking a medallion with him, Martin, or maybe "Captain Blood" now, he's gotten Java and his teacher under his spell and is out to find the treasure, the Red Rose Ruby that can raise the spirits of his crew.

The symbol of the space pirates is typically a stylized, robotic skull depicting the face of their original captain; Angstrom Darkwater. This logo is also used by their alternate dimension counterparts in Rift Apart, but to a lesser degree. A new, more prominent insignia in Rift Apart is shown to now be used by the pirates in both dimensions.[1]
The space pirates were created by Percival Tachyon when he was just a child. Their purpose was to scour the galaxy and bring back materials Tachyon could use to build his Imperial Army. Their original captain was Angstrom Darkwater.[2] Once their job was complete and Tachyon was set to restore the Cragmite Empire, he banished them to Praxus Seven.[3]
After their exile, the space pirates continued to engage in a life of piracy; attacking and looting ships and cities across Polaris, all while enjoying their favorite alcoholic beverage: grog. The pirates also continued to hold a grudge against Tachyon after being promptly abandoned by their creator and promised that they would settle the score with him one day. Tachyon's great desire to possess the fabled Lombax Secret became widely known, and so the pirates sought to inflict a form of retribution by stealing it before him. 2ff7e9595c
